Things to Do

One of California's most popular beaches, Pismo Beach is a fantastic place to go fishing, fly kites, watch seagulls, and surf. The Pismo Beach Pier provides beautiful ocean and sunset views, the perfect place for an atmospheric stroll, and benches for visitors to enjoy the views. On Wednesdays from 4 pm to 7 pm, visitors can enjoy the Pismo Beach Farmer's Market held at the Pismo Pier Plaza. The seasonal market is a great place to enjoy live music and shop for unique handcrafted items and local produce.

Look beyond what the beach has to offer with a tour of the Chris Burkard Studio to see the famed artist's artwork and photos displayed in a beautiful setting. The knowledgeable and experienced staff make the visit an experience to remember.

Between November and February, the Pismo State Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove offers a glimpse into the migration pattern of a massive population of monarch butterflies. Volunteers are on hand to provide interesting information, and photos are encouraged to preserve beautiful memories of your experience.
